Considered one of the great Portuguese chefs, José Avillez stands out due to his enterprising spirit and his willingness to go one step further.

After training in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse, Eric Freshon and Ferran Adrià, José Avillez set out on his own, earning one Michelin star in his first year!

Now he presides over numerous restaurants including the two-Michelin-star “Belcanto”, 91st place in the prestigious “The World's 50 Best Restaurants List”; the almost-impossible-to-get-into ‘Mini Bar’; ‘Bairro do Avillez’, with the most spectacular Páteo in town, ’ Cantinho do Avillez ‘ and ‘Pizzaria Lisboa’- the fulfilling of an old dream to ope a own pizzeria .

José Avillez authors numerous successful books- ‘A Chef in Your Home’, ‘Snacking in Style’, ‘Cantinho do Avillez – The Recipes’ and in 2016 ‘Improbabilicious’.  

He hosts several TV and radio cooking shows. On his show ‘O Chef Sou Eu’- ‘ I’m the Chef’ Chef José Avillez shares advices, quick recipes, fun facts and tips.
