'It's hugely important to keep a CF pair of lungs active!

‘Without a shadow of a doubt, a large part of my longevity in the battle to defy CF can be credited to the amount of sport I have played throughout my life’….Every day you have to find a way to make your lungs work hard for you but you also need to sweat as well in order to push them and keep them ‘tuned’.

By forcing yourself to breathe hard while exercising, you will in turn breathe life into your lungs.

An average week would look like this:

Monday - 30 mins quick walk

Tuesday - 30 mins quick walk and 15 press ups after going to the toilet (good habit to start forming)

Wednesday - visit gym and do 30-60 mins cardio training on the running machine (interval training which is 1-5 mins running followed by 4-5 mins pacey walking) and 15-20 mins weights (very good for muscle strength and to reduce effects of osteoporosis which is common in CF)

Thursday - 30 mins quick walk and 15 press ups after going to the toilet (good habit to start forming)

Friday - 30 mins quick walk

Saturday - visit gym and do 30-60 mins cardio training on the running machine (interval training which is 1-5 mins running followed by 4-5 mins pacey walking) and 15-20 mins weights (very good for muscle strength and to reduce effects of osteoporosis which is common in CF)

Sunday - game of field hockey / 30 mins quick walk'

Hope that helps
